COH Rehab connects insurers with SIRA-approved Injury Management Consultants (IMCs) in NSW. Tell us the injury-management question, relevant medical specialty, preferred location and timeframe so we can help you explore an appropriate connection.
COH Rehab coordinates the connection. The IMC doctor undertakes the consultation or file review and provides their own professional advice. Any appointment depends on the doctor's suitability and availability, the referral information and the applicable referral requirements.

What does an Injury Management Consultant do?
An IMC is a medical doctor who helps the worker, treating doctor, insurer and employer address barriers to recovery and returning to work. The doctor facilitates discussion about practical next steps. The worker's treating doctor continues to manage treatment.
How do insurers request an IMC connection?
Insurers can contact COH Rehab about an IMC connection. For NSW workers compensation claims, SIRA’s framework places the formal IMC referral with the insurer. Referral requirements, doctor suitability and availability apply.
When may an IMC referral be appropriate?
An IMC may help when recovery is at risk of being delayed or there is a particular injury-management or return-to-work issue. Attempts to resolve the issue must be made before referral. The insurer must follow SIRA’s referral requirements, including consultation with the worker.
Does COH Rehab provide the IMC assessment?
COH Rehab's role in this pathway is to arrange the connection. The SIRA-approved IMC doctor performs the clinical work. IMC consultations support injury management; they do not determine claim liability. COH Rehab's CTP rehabilitation, ADL assessments, CTP functional assessments and CTP vocational assessments are available through the separate service options above.
