COH Rehab does not provide workers compensation vocational or work-focused functional/capacity assessments. Ask your workers compensation insurer about an appropriate SIRA-approved workplace rehabilitation provider.
What is a vocational assessment?
A vocational assessment brings together the person’s employment history, education, transferable skills, interests and relevant functional information. The purpose is to identify work directions that are realistic, evidence-informed and responsive to the referral question.
When may an assessment help?
An insurer may request a vocational assessment when a person cannot return to their previous role, when alternative duties or occupations need to be explored, or when the recovery team needs clearer information about viable work options.
Areas considered
- Employment, education and training history
- Transferable skills and demonstrated experience
- Interests, preferences and vocational goals
- Relevant physical, psychological or practical barriers
- Potential occupations, training needs and next steps
Clear reporting for the referral question
The report summarises the information considered, explains the vocational reasoning and provides practical recommendations. Any identified options remain subject to the person’s circumstances, medical guidance and labour-market considerations.
